Bournemouth Tour - June 2010

   The well established Richmond Park Bowling Club, set in a suburb of Bournemouth, were the first opponents on the 2010 tour. 
   A scorching hot sun did not cool the enthusiasm of the two sides, but Pentyrch survived a late come back by the hosts to record a rare tour victory (120-86). Winning skips were Russell Howell, Margaret Farmer, Peter Neville & Don Wibley.

      
     
       
       Next up was a trip inland to visit the small town of Downton who gave the tourists a great welcome, but the welcome ended when the match began ! 
Despite the rinks of Tim Morgan and Jan Berry winning, Pentyrch wilted after the half time tea break (when they were 13 shots up), to lose by just 6 shots
(114-120).  Undaunted by  this defeat the tourists had an excellent post match reception and gained revenge by taking home a large selection of the raffle prizes !

       The final match on the tour was in the beautiful city of Bath. By now the tourists playing pool was diminishing by the minute - 3 players dropped out due to illness shortly before the start. Not many of the rinks adapted to the much faster green than the previous days, and this was reflected in the final score
(83-154). The only winning rink was skipped by Denzil Thomas, but just like the other hosting clubs Bath Bowling Club gave a fine welcome into their clubhouse for post match hospitality.  
        
      The much sought after Pentyrch Tourist of the Year trophy was presented to a delighted and hobbling Jim O'Dwyer.
